The members of A‘ea‘e are devastated about the fire, destruction, and loss of life in the West Maui and Upcountry Maui fires. Our gratitude goes out to all first responders, individuals, and organizations who have supported the community. All members of our group have Maui ties - Tarvin Mākia and Keola Donaghy have lived there since the 70s. Māpuana Makia was born here, Kenneth Makuakāne lived and performed In Lahaina in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and Nashville’s Jeff Dayton, as he likes to say, was “Made On Maui.”
We encourage everyone to support relief and recovery efforts however you can. Donations can be made to either of these two reliable organizations. Please be careful of where you donate as many scam fundraisers are being run right now.
You may also purchase on Amazon.com or your favorite online retailer and have them delivered to this address: Kāko‘o Haleakalā

Baby goods (diapers, baby powder, formula, wipes, etc.) are needed, and reports are circulating some stores on Maui are out, leaving other residents with infants short of supplies.
Finally, to answer the call put out by Mana Maoli, Kanaeokana, Jason Momoa, Ōiwi TV, Council of Native Hawaiian Advancement, and 808viral, we share our Lahaina mele, “I Ka La‘i O Lahaina,” which was recorded and released on our debut EP last year. We're sorry we donʻt have a live performance to share. More west Maui mele are in the works; we will share them when they are ready.
